Let Your Chakras Do the Work

become more intuitive

I’m a self-proclaimed chakra nerd. I remember curling up in the new age section of book stores as a twelve year old, reading in wonder about these magical wheels of spinning energy that play an integral role in the quality of our lives.

I was fascinated by the description of this energy system, even as a little girl; its colours mirroring thatย of a rainbow, and yet, until about threeย years ago, I felt a massive disconnect. I knew, intellectually, that we had chakras. I believed it. I hoped it to be true. But personally, I didn’t know mine, I couldn’t sense them or feel them, I didn’t feel a connection with the chakras withinย me.ย

All that changed when I was twenty-four.

Chakric connection – established.

Awareness of the energy – dialed up to high.

Intimate communication – yes indeed.

In this video, I share a little about how you can start bridging the gap ‘between’ you and your chakras with some of my favourite ways to intentionally awaken them, get them spinning, and get them healing you.

As you’re about to learn, when you get your chakras spinning – they get to work for you.

No longer do you have to compartmentalise your problems and bulldoze through them separately…. deep-diving into your own subtle energies means that without you even having to be consciously aware of what’s happening, you are being supported, healed, nourished.

Press play, and let your chakras do the work.

Here are some fantastic resources if you want to take all this a little deeper.

School of the Modern Mystic*

unnamed

I’ve hooted and hollered about this program endless times before.

Comprehensive, seriously mind-blowing, completely supportive. This is a six-month spiritual journey in which you systematically balance each of your chakras, starting from the base and journeying up each fortnight, before learning how to work with and manifest with the White Light. I still listen to Belinda’s content on my beach walks. It never gets old, it never loses its shine, and I’m forever finding myself learning more and more about chakras and how they communicate with me.

Chakra Cleanse Meditation*

Just over thirty minutes of pure, unadulterated BLISS.

Anatomy of the Spirit – Caroline Myss.

Consider this the real chakra B I B L E.

Here’s a download that was once apart of my online program. You can have it totally free. It’s a guide on what to do when you’re in a chakric funk ๐Ÿ™‚

I’d love to hear from you in the comments now. Can you tune into which of your chakras may be a little off-balance? Let me know what’s up, what’s blocked (without telling me your life story, pretty please), and I’ll happily respond with a little insight ๐Ÿ™‚

I have amenorrhea. Any insights as to which chakra this may be? I was thinking 1/2/ and/or 3

    • Tara August 26, 2014 at 10:19 am #

Hello beautiful ๐Ÿ™‚ 1 and 2 for sure.

Just want to say that I have many girlfriends that have made it through amenorrhea ๐Ÿ™‚ Hopefully working on your chakras will speed up the process xo

Love this Tara! I’ve only recently started to learn about the chakras and I find it utterly fascinating. The one thing that I’m struggling with is that I feel like most of my chakras are blocked – almost every area of my life is out of balance after many years of depression, partying and relationship difficulties. What chakra should I focus on first, or should I try to work on my entire energetic body?

    Much love x

    • Tara August 26, 2014 at 10:21 am #

Hey gorgeous. If I were you I’d do Belinda’s Chakra Cleanse Meditation 3-4 times a week – that way you’re balancing and cleansing all of them. If it’s an option for you – her school is fantastic too. It slowly (which is important!) guides you through each other them, giving you an understanding of them which is unparralelled.

Don’t be too stressed about it though. Most of us have chakra blcokages but the good news is there are plenty of teachers, tools and technologies to help us heal. xo

        Thank you lovely <3

Great post Tara! I’m slowly start to open up to the world of chakras! I just bought the vilet gray design solar plexus chakra charm. I’m feeling really stagnant with my life plan, doing all the right things but I just want everything now! I’ve also got zero energy and zest because of this. Half of me wants to start before I’m ready, start the buis without the qualifications, get a tribe going, but the old ‘nobody will give two hoots’ is stopping me!! I think I’m on the right track with the solar plexus, what do you think?? Xxx

    • Tara August 26, 2014 at 10:24 am #

I think you’re absolutely spot on babe.

Do your meditations and bring yellow into your life. One thing though – often with chakra 3, you may become MORE tired before you feel enlivened. This is certainly true for me and chakra 2. Each time I do some work on – holy shit – I just get SO tired for a few weeks. Know that your chakra is working hard for you and that any change is good change xo

      • Molly August 26, 2014 at 7:28 pm #

Thanks gorgeous, as always, you’re amazing.

    • Sharyn August 27, 2014 at 11:31 am #

I also just bought the solar plexus charm from Violet Gray! I almost bought the throat charm but feel pretty balanced in speaking my truth. I’m ready to bring more self-confidence to my life journey and bring my intentions to fruition ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Keara August 26, 2014 at 10:31 am #

Hi Tara – absolutely love this vlog!! I got Belinda’s chakra meditation about 6 months ago and just love it. Unfortunately I don’t do it nearly as much as I’d like to. I see above you recommend doing it 3-4 times a week so I will aim for that – thank you for the inspiration! I have struggled with digestive issues for years – I’m guessing chakra 3?! xx

    • Tara August 26, 2014 at 10:46 am #

Sure is chakra three lovely xo ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Kate August 26, 2014 at 11:10 am #

Hi Tara, I love this vlog! I’m trying to heal a long term skin problem, I have a feeling its the solar plexus chakra. What do you think? X

    • Tara August 27, 2014 at 8:11 am #

Darling I think so too. So often skin issues are a result of poor gut performance, which pertains to chakra three. I know belinda healed intense gut issues by focusing intensely on the solar plexus.

Also, my hubby has had horrible problems with his skin, too. He doesn’t officially work on his chakras, but he started focusing on his gut – with probiotics, cultured foods, and sipping apple cider vinegar – and the improvement is BEYOND.

      Hope that helps.x

      • Kate August 27, 2014 at 8:30 pm #

Thank you Tara, so helpful! Oh wow, happy to hear that its working, I think even though he doesn’t officially work on them, focus is the name of the game!! X

  9. Helen August 26, 2014 at 11:38 am #

Love chakra week Tara! I have a little work to do here but so excited to tap into the resources you’ve mentioned.

    Tara,

I so genuinely needed this today. Sometimes when I get emails I’ll leave it until Friday, when my work is done and I have time to delve into the questions/videos/words more deeply. Today, I opened your email and watched the video and wow, I just needed this. I’ve been feeling SO inferior lately and now, after some research I know that my Solar Plexus Chakra needs and yearns for cleansing. THANK YOU. Just thank you, so incredibly much.

    • Tara August 27, 2014 at 8:12 am #

I love that you were able to arrive at that realisation babe. Chakra Three Healing Time it is ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Ashlee August 26, 2014 at 11:49 am #

OMG Tara, you have NO idea! I have just this last couple of days made the conscious decision to get my chakras in order ๐Ÿ™‚ As you are aware I wasn’t even sure what they were a year ago LoL โ€ฆ Perfect timing? I think so. Love Love Love xx

  12. Alex @ True Femme August 26, 2014 at 1:09 pm #

I absolutely love this! Recently I’ve been struggling with a lot of anxiety–is that chakra 3? A few years ago when I was recovering from anorexia I started thinking a lot about my chakras and chakra healing, but it was something that I kind of dropped. It wasn’t on purpose but I would love to get back on that path and learn more about how to heal through them! Thank you for posting that color therapy guide! It is wonderful and so gracious of you to share it for free!

  13. Briar August 26, 2014 at 1:27 pm #

Two years ago the words “Party Girls Guide to Peace” resonated with me and touched a nerve but I dont think I was brave enough to make a change (I’ve been a shit party girl since around then anyway, my heart hasn’t been in it but I never took a stand until recently).

Two weeks ago one of your videos left me broken and literally screaming as it broke through some sort of emotional barrier I wasn’t even aware of/ pretended I had already passed. Since then I have felt like I am on a super vibrational level, and calmer than I have been in a long time!

This week I have started thinking about chakras and how I can really try and work with them as I have been interested in them for so long but never quite did anything about it…I got the symbol of the heart chakra tattooed on my wrist when I was 19 hoping it would propel me into some super goddess mode!

Here I am, four years since I tattooed anahata on for good, thinking about chakras again when up pops this video… whatever’s going on for me right now, you are playing a big part…again…there in the beginning and there now.

    You rock! X

    • Tara August 27, 2014 at 8:12 am #

YOU rock lady. How friggen beautiful xo

  14. leah August 26, 2014 at 1:37 pm #

    Hi tara,
definately anxiety and eczema. any thoughts there? Xx

    • Tara August 27, 2014 at 8:14 am #

Chakras 1, 2 and 3 beautiful girl. If you read through a few of the other comments here you’ll see that you’re not alone honey. Working with chakra one will ensure that you start to feel more grounded and present. And when we’re present, it’s IMPOSSIBLE for us to be anxious.

      Good luck. Be gentle. xo

  15. leah August 26, 2014 at 1:39 pm #

    Hi tara,
definately anxiety and eczema. any thoughts there? Hope to hear from you xx

  16. Kate August 26, 2014 at 2:08 pm #

    Hey Tara,

I’m so glad you’re highlighting chakras this week, it’s something I’ve been wanting to learn more about. I had a real ah-ha moment when watching. I have endometriosis that I have been healing for a couple of years now, and simultaneously I have struggled to build strength in my lower abdominal area (the rest of my stomach is really strong). I can feel that there must be some sort of connection between the two. What do you think? And which charkra would this be?

Also I’m looking forward to doing the guided meidation!

Thank you for sharing, it’s easy to see how passionate you are about chakras! X

    • Tara August 27, 2014 at 8:17 am #

      Chakra 2, 2, 2!

What’s really helped me honey, is: the chakra cleanse meditation plus those other things I mentioned in the video. Surrounding myself in beauty, dance, putting aside time for creativity. Learning more about that part of my body too, and how to use it – erotic fiction, sex toys even. Anything that dissolves the shame that manifests these imbalances in the first place. I see chakra two imbalances as an invitation to remember the divine goddess women that we are. It’s a beautiful journey babe. Have fun with it and be gentle and patient with yourself. xo

  17. Sarah August 26, 2014 at 4:32 pm #

Hi Tara, you are so awesomeโ€ฆ.just feeling so lost and restricted in the confines of what my families needs are and what my needs areโ€ฆโ€ฆ???? Thank you xx

    • Tara August 26, 2014 at 6:26 pm #

You haven’t given me much information here babe.

But intuitively, I’d say Chakra one needs a little love. Maybe even chakra four.

Apart from meditations and mindfulness, bring some PLEASURE into your life. The small things. Tiny things that bring you alive and usher in some beauty : flowers, essential oils, dark chocolate. Whatever will bring a little smile to your face

  18. claudia August 26, 2014 at 5:03 pm #

  19. Jessica August 26, 2014 at 5:46 pm #

    Hi Tara,

Love your website (albeit haven’t been on for a while) due to running around like a crazy person – living between two states, starting a new job (that I should never have taken on) and just feeling the winter blah ….

But I saw your instagram post this morning and was like WOOAHHH … A massive realisation …

I have been back and fourth to my GP the last 3 weeks – with UTI’s and now the effects of antibiotics (sorry for tmi). I was wondering if this was linked to my general lack of motivation/ feeling flighty/ etc … I goggled as per your recommendation and thought the Sacral Chakra?

What are your thoughts? Thanks again for your insight and wake up calls

    J x

    • Tara August 26, 2014 at 6:24 pm #

I’d say one two and three for you babe.
One because you sound a little ungrounded.
Two because this is pertaining to organs in that area.
      And three for energy.

Nothing to worry about though darling, it’s just a beautiful opportunity to find little pockets of stillness and work with a few guided chakra meditations. That’ll be a great place for you to start. If you really want to deep dive, check out Belinda’s school. It’s kind of ridiculous how amazing it is. xo

  20. Kylie Anderson August 26, 2014 at 5:49 pm #

Love this post! I am just getting into this topic and found this so helpful. I hope to do Belinda’s School of the Modern Mystic next round as well. Such an interesting topic and I am loving it!! xxx

    Hey Tara ๐Ÿ™‚

I have been doing lots of overseas travel, and will continue to do more over the next week. Ill be spending many hours on the plane and I’m very nervous about it. I can feel my chakras going completely out of whack when i travel, and it takes me a couple of weeks of home routine to get back on track. Do you have any tips for how to best manage my chakras when traveling?

    Thanks darling xxx

    • Tara August 26, 2014 at 6:19 pm #

Darling this is chakra one. Groundedness, feeling safe, feeling protected.

Guided meditations honey – on the plane, in the mornings.

And also – presence and mindfulness. Be as present and open as you can on your trip. Open your heart to the incredible experiences you’re about to have xo

  22. Edwina August 26, 2014 at 7:33 pm #

A great post Tara! I got Belinda’s meditation a few days ago and am re-reading Anatomy of the Spirit, so your timing is spot on.

There’s a wonderful video that Anodea Judith has put together on the chakras that you may be interested in watching…

    Take care lovely xx

  23. Line August 26, 2014 at 7:54 pm #

    LOVE your work, Tara! <3

This post was both beautiful with some really great info for me….and I have a question for you. My husband and myself have gotten SCIO-scans done, where you actually get pictures of the chakras and their sizes (…among other things – soooo cool). As both of us have struggled with depression and exhaustion, I was sure our Solar plexus chakras would be blocked or really small. However, it turns out they were the opposite! Our third chakras were really large…Do you have any idea why and how?!
But I guess the healing of it is done the same way, not matter WHAT the problem with the chakra is – large or blocked/small?

    Bless/Bliss! <3

    • Tara August 27, 2014 at 8:21 am #

You make such a good point here darling.

The reason chakra three was blown out because is because it’s over-active. This is how we become exhasuted and adrenally fatigued.

There’s a huge difference between being generally lazy and lethargic (under-active SP) and exhausted and utterly worn out (over-active SP).

To bring it back into balance, you’re going to have to play with the concept of surrender. With slowing down. With consciously changing the pace of your life and your movements and your thoughts. This sounds really counter-intuitive because in today’s world we feel like the more we get done, the better the result.

      Not so.

Take this time to rest, to heal, to really care and nourish yourself in whatever pockets of time you can manage.

Also – I feel like social media can contribute very easily to over-active chakras. Peel back a little, take a break, and re-gather your energy honey. xo

      • Line August 29, 2014 at 7:24 pm #

Ooh, thank you, Tara, yes, that really resonnates with me <3 SURRENDER – a big one for both of us… And PLAY as well ! ๐Ÿ˜€

And as for Social media ๐Ÿ˜› trying to weane off those – to have some days in entirety off on a regular basis.

Just had another big aha this week, though; doing a meditation where I actually removed people from my aura! Read about it somewhere, that including people into your aura is draining, and can be a problem for people that are natural healers, empaths and nurturers (like me ;)). So I am guessing this will do some good to the ammount of energy left, and also healing of my SP <3

Thank you for answering, Sweetie! <3

  24. Courtney Moran August 26, 2014 at 7:56 pm #

Woah total synchronicity Tara Bliss! I drafted you an email today regarding coaching + charakas and Belinda Davidson – I didn’t realize you’d completed school of the modern mystic and worked with her! Amazing! I will send it through tmrw as I wrote it on my work email… I’ve been feeling not enough / inferior / comparing myself but also a super busy / scatty mind with no focus – solar plexus !? And another!? Thanks for sharing – beautiful video lady xxx

I am Belinda’s number one fan babe!

You are SPOT ON. But I’d say chakra one two. Start there and find your groundedness, your safety, your presence. xo

  25. Peta August 26, 2014 at 8:02 pm #

    I am so utterly blocked!
And so utterly ready to unblock. In fact, I just purchased the guided chakra meditation, plus Belinda’s ebook, and your chakra bible.

    Thank you, Tara.
    You are a goddess.

You could NOT start somewhere more perfect Peta.

That meditation will slowly but surely change your life xo

  26. Alex August 26, 2014 at 9:18 pm #

    Good morning, Tara!

It never fails that your posts coincide exactly with what is going on in my life and what I need to hear. That being said, I am a little conflicted about which chakra(s?) is(are?) imbalanced in my life.

I’m very much feeling anger and resentment toward my current uncomfortable living situation and the relationship I have with a roommate. I feel cast out unnecessarily (and literally) and it’s causing a lot of anxiety and stress. That one was easy to google and I have felt that my heart chakra has been out of balance. I like your tips on how to start the healing process, however. I wasn’t quite sure what to do and feel better just having an action to take.

What isn’t so easily goolgable are my feelings of impatience about my job. I want to move forward because I have given and given and given so much time and energy and life to it. I feel like I DESERVE to be promoted. I feel like I’m running in place and that I still have to wait on others to make a decision to put me there. But do I? Do I deserve it? Am I just impatient? Why should I have to wait? And is this feeling just an extension of my heart chakra imbalance from my personal situation or is another one affected? I don’t want to ignore one if it’s unbalanced but don’t want to take healing energy away from one that needs it most.

I know you can’t answer all my questions but some direction with which chakra(s) to focus on would be a huge help!

    Thank you!

    • Tara August 27, 2014 at 8:28 am #

Do you REALLY want the promotion?

      Really?

Who wants a promotion at a workplace that they don’t adore?

Honey, what I heard here was Chakra One stuff at the core.

When chakra one is balanced, we feel grounded, we feel at home, we feel fulfilled in our home life, our work life. We feel supported. We’re not living pay cheque to pay cheque. All of our fundamental and primal needs are sorted and most importantly, despite our circumstances – we feel SAFE.

This is what is so wonderful (and challenging) about the chakras: You want me to tell you all these THINGS you should do to change all that. But I can’t and I won’t. The answer is: sit down in meditation and work with your chakras. This is the most powerful way to work with them.

On the outside, it doesn’t make sense. Particularly when we’re overachievers who can think of a million more important things to do that to sit in silence.

      But STILLNESS is the answer.

In the end, all of the miracles, all of the motion, all of the CHANGE, comes from somewhere. The stillness. The void.

So get your butt on a meditation cushion, close your eyes, and get to work.

      Good luck babe. xo

Tara, thanks so much for your vlog — and it’s no coincidence that learning about and working on the chakras has been my greatest excitement recently (AND I had just posted about this excitement on my blog’s FB page yesterday right before seeing your vlog!) I am just finishing up Caroline Myss’s “Invisible Acts of Power” and “Anatomy of the Spirit” should be arriving any day now. I need to get to Belinda’s meditation more frequently as another commenter said — and I’m SO excited to hear about what your chakra collaboration will be!
Thank you for your continued inspiration and for sharing the chakra color guide. Rock on, sister. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi wonderful teacher of my soul
Wow where do I start, I’ve always been open to this and it has always surrounded me, but lately with 3 children, 5 and under, I’m finding myself connecting more and sharing my limited knowledge with new people in my life. We have been in our new town for 18months and I’m feeling surprisingly settled, but wanting to put down roots and think I’ve found the spot.
Chakras amaze me and you have just set off my light bulb.
I’m feeling happy and seeing lots of beauty, I’m also working for our future and have plans in my head constantly ticking and taking process.
My Me time is limited and our house is surprisingly relaxed, but I know I’m ready for the next leap!
Thank you for keeping it real
    Xoxox

Hi and thanks for doing all that you do so bravely and honestly! In an online world that can be time-wasting, it’s great to tune in to you and feel some love and inspiration. Now on a personal note…I’m suffering from depression and anxiety since becoming a mum 7 years ago. Without my beautiful kids and husband I don’t know where I’d be…

    Hi lovely Tara,

I have almost 20 yes of chronic illness behind me. However, I’m always growing and healing, but I am still unwell physically. I think I can account the whole process now to an initial virus trigger (body unable to get rid of it) or another infection like lymes at the core which has affected other areas. I need to clear this virus/bug. Be interested on your chakra thoughts and which area it could relate to?
    Many thanks
    Carly xxx

Incredible video, and I’ve been hearing all about this book in the past month – seems to be a sign to go pick it up. I know I need to work with chakra 2, but curious about which chakra relates to setting boundaries. I’ve let go of a lot of perfectionism in my life but still struggle from time to time with setting boundaries for myself and overcommitting myself, leading to feeling overwhelmed and anxious.

Hi Tara, Thanks for the vid! I have just started exploring chakras so this came at the perfect time. P.S it is possible for all chakras to be blocked? Haha

    Hi Tara,

so funny that you’re having chakra week. I have been neglecting mine all summer (I’m in Massachusetts, USA). With the summer my routine tends to dissolve. Now that it’s the end of the summer I have really been feeling like crap. I know it’s largely because I haven’t been eating right, meditating, journaling, or tending to my chakras. Now I feel that they are ALL out of balance and blocked. I don’t even know where to begin.

Hi Tara, this is a great topic. I started to read about chakras some time ago. I have got a question where I am not sure where it is related to. I have got a skin rash coming up now and then on my right shoulder. I am not sure if this is related to food (gluten, sugar) or if it something completely different. Love your posts!

    Hi Tara,
Thank you for this great video. You look beautiful.
Do you have any suggestions for opening and unblocking the heart chakra in the context of healing broken hearts.
    Thanks xxx

    Hi Tara,
I have some very deep emotiotions that i have been dealing with over a long period of time. I couldn’t be more ready to get rid of them. Can you give your insight to what chacras i need to work on for feelings of depression, anxiety, feeling lost and trapped within my life. I feel life these emotions have snowballed out of control so i’m here to bust the crap out of them!

    Hi tara
    I love hearing your messages!

I am currently working on being more vulnerable and breaking my walls down. I feel trapped in not being able to find job direction. I have been working with a healer and she suggested it was my subconscious mind that needs a lot of work and attention in releasing old self limiting beliefs, especially feelings of unworthiness.
Which chakra would this pertain to?

I think you are a wicked chick, you are mucho inspiring!! Xxx

I’m new to the world of chakras. I recently took a quiz that said basically all of my chakras are out of balance except my third eye, so I guess I’m not very rooted in reality. I don’t really know where to start with all of it! But I was wondering if you knew anything about chakras and how they relate to fertility?

  48. Love this post! thanks for sharing
